After three months I’ve finally gotten around to putting together another little movie showing some of the bush flying we do out here in the mountains of Papua from our Timika base:
Pilatus PC-6 Bush Flying – Timika, Papua (Pt 2) from Matt Dearden on Vimeo.
As requested, I’ve included some aircraft noise from both inside the cockpit and from outside so you can hear stall warnings, beta pitch etc. The next movie is already in the pipeline and as always, if you’d like to see anything else in these movies, do let me know and I’ll try and incorporate them.

Wonderful video Matt! I think captures very well what is to be a bush pilot in Indonesia… love the scenes with people interaction.
Thanks Ricardo! For my next video I’m hoping to have even more interaction and show what happens at the remote airfields after landing and before departing again.
This is awesome! Love the video Matt! I too liked the video interactions with people.
Check out a summary of Matt sharing his flight story on my website: http://martinsaviation.blogspot.com/2013/05/share-your-story-matt-dearden.html
I’m going to add this video into your post that you wrote for my site.
Thanks for making this one!

Thanks again for the invite to write! I’ve linked in your blog from this post on my blog here: http://indopilot.blogspot.com/2013/05/article-for-from-private-to.html
And glad you enjoyed the video. More to come in a couple of months!
You are the man… You did a great job editing the footage. No doubt it was a lot of work but anyone that watches this will appreciate it… Fly safe and all the best.
It did take a little while but the longest part was collecting the footage. Very glad I have the GoPro remote now as cuts down hours and hours of cruise footage where nothing really happens. Cheers!
I loved this video!! Excellent blog. Just added you to the list on Flight To Success. http://karlenepetitt.blogspot.com/
Thanks for the follow! Awesome blog you have there and some seriously impressive flying credentials. Will keep on reading :o)
Hey Matt,
I was just wondering how many hours you fly per day?
And another question I have, actually you are only showing the beautiful parts of this job as bush pilot, but could you also make an article about the disadvantages?
And by the way your articles are really inspiring!
If you don’t want to create a post about the disadvantages you could contact me, if not too busy?

Regards š
I usually around 4-5 hours a day, 6 days a week. I’ll see what I can do about the downsides to this job in a future article as there are most certainly a few!
Hi MATT,
your video simply ROCKS. It’s like we are in the cockpit on your side. I just found awesome the passengers with this axe. I guess he didn’t get through the metal detectors…

Thanks Geoff. I really need to have a word with those airport security guys I think!
